2010 “Riparian Life of the Gila River”
Artists Cedar Smith and Mary Giardana worked with Gila youth on this mural project. Gila youth of all ages assisted in every aspect of this summer youth program, including design and development, from the beginning to the end. The mural. located adjacent to the front door of the library, was inspired by the nature and agriculture that abound on the banks of the Gila River, the only wild, free-flowing river in New Mexico.
2010 “Vida ribereña del Río Gila”
Los artistas Cedar Smith y Mary Giardana trabajaron junto a los jóvenes de Gila en la creación de este mural. Jóvenes de todas las edades ayudaron en todos los aspectos de este programa juvenil de verano, incluyendo el diseño y desarrollo, desde el principio hasta el final. El mural, ubicado junto a la puerta principal de la biblioteca, fue inspirado por la naturaleza y la agricultura que abundan en las orillas del Río Gila, el único río salvaje y de caudal libre de Nuevo Méjico.
2012 “Gila Stories”
Beth Menczer and Diana Ingalls Leyba worked with students from Cliff High School’s art and history classes to create this spectacular mural located at the Gila Valley Library. Student artists created a mosaic mural that featured a rearing horse assembled from images taken from oral histories related by Gila community elders.
2012 “Historias de Gila”
Beth Menczer y Diana Ingalls Leyba crearon junto a los estudiantes de arte e historia del Cliff High School este espectacular mural localizado en la Biblioteca de Gila Valley. Los jóvenes artistas crearon un mural de mosaico que presentaba un caballo encabritado ensamblado a partir de imágenes sacadas de las historias orales relatadas por los ancianos de la comunidad de Gila.
